Procrastination: try at least 1 new strategy from 9 easy suggestions

Dear Scholar,

Even with solid motivation and organization we can still sometimes find ourselves procrastinating. When this happens, no need for drama, just simply acknowledge what is going on, then remind yourself that getting back on track saves time and keeps the drama away. In her blog “Time Management Tips” Ashley Andrews shares 9 Tips to Increase Your Focus for Getting Things Done, from +Yumi Sarugawa. It offers proven and very do-able strategies, in a simple infographic form. Three of the 9 tips are highlighted below. Check it out at https://plus.google.com/+AshleyAndrewsUK/posts/WDJMrJ6vMLe

SET A TIMER: Use a kitchen timer (or cell phone) for 20-30 minutes and focus completely on finishing one task. I use a timer to get myself to sit down and work. Once I set the timer and start to work I feel as though I have cleared my mind and have sharper focus. EMAIL CHECK TIME: Set a specific time to check and answer email. This is much more time efficient than being on email all day. This tip is a great example of a good routine that saves time and brings about routine efficiency. THE MORNING: Get your most important task finished first thing in the morning. We can never know what will come our way on any given day. Always starting out with the most important task ensures that if the day goes awry you will have still successfully completed something crucial. There are 9 excellent tips, check out the flyer and if you could benefit from being reminded print it and hang it on your wall. All My Best, Dr. J.
